no one warned me what happens to young men when,
(accustomed to wearing a coat and tie to school)
they are free to wear jeans on the last day,
of a an extremely long week
did i mention that i taught a double period?
80 minute class
did i mention that it's friday?
just yesterday i was saying how silly i found our dress code to be
and today i ate my words whole
looking forward to a monday with boys growing into men,
sedated by their jackets and ties.

don't you have monday off? yes, i love having a uniform and it gives me a visual and literal headache when the kids are dressed down, their wildness revs up!
we have school monday :(
apparently when the jewish holidays fall on weekdays and we miss school, they take back columbus day
