more things they don't tell you

the first time i got pregnant i remember thinking "there are so many things no one ever told me!" like that being pregnant might effect how much your gums bleed when you floss (that you have 50% more blood in your body!) ......and other less PG things.

but i thought that i knew everything there was to know for the second time...

turns out the second time isn't necessarily like the first.
apart from being more nauseous and more tired, there were other physical differences. i was immediately more uncomfortable, felt more pressure pushing on my quickly disappearing pelvic floor. as the midwife explained: with a first pregnancy your body is stretching that way for the first time so everything is held more tightly, the second time around, like a used rubber band, your body, already having been stretched out, holds together less. everything falls sooner.

i think the pictures above show this pretty accurately. the top picture was two years ago at 25.5 weeks pregnant
the bottom picture was today at 24 weeks pregnant. i am bigger and lower and way less comfortable. only 16 more weeks to go (!)
