that's why it's called work

today i got to work before the sun had finished coming up.
and i left after it had gone down.
not the first time.
but certainly one of the longest stretches i've done.
no i don't have soooooo much work
nor am i suuuuuuuch a hard worker
i would say that i am extremely inefficient at times
i would even say i am EXTRAORDINARILY inefficient at times
but it's part of my wiring i guess - my brain prefers the scenic route

one of my favorite detours is snacking
after my colleague invited me into her candy drawer at my leisure i have had trouble not stopping in to say hello to the mini snickers, three musketeers and milky way bars several times a day.
i would say that i exhibit very little self-control
i would even say that the lack of self control that i have is somewhat extraordinary.

bacio

when i was in high school i loved baci. i loved the shape made by the hazelnut inside, and that smushy stuff in the middle. but i think what i loved more than the actual chocolates were the quotes (about love) that were written on a sheet of wax paper inside the foil wrapping (in four different languages). in fact, i used to collect them thinking that one day i would do some sort of massive art project with them. the volume of wrappers i had accumulated over those years was somewhat shocking (a lady has to eat a lot of chocolate to have so many wrappers).

i'm not sure where that collection has gone (probably in the garbage), but i was reminded of it today when i found a strip of paper among another collection of crap in my apt. this paper didn't come from a chocolate - in fact i have no recollection of where the paper came from, but clearly i liked the quote enough to have held onto it. it's broad and not necessarily about love - could really be about anything... both good and bad.

your experience with another person is always a function of your emotional and mental climate. nobody has the power to create within you something that is not already there.
