my sense of smell has always been very strongly linked to my memories. nothing can trigger a feeling or thought from my past in the way that a scent can.
i wouldn't know how to describe it - would not be able to put it into words - but certain smells automatically ignite this nostalgic part of my brain. as if i can't know how much i've missed something until its scent reminds me.

you know it! we have a particularly keen sense of smell in our family. nothing like the fire island smell or the argentina one. people are often surprised when i say they have a scent. they think it is weird but i definitely can pinpoint many people's scent.
your grandpa julio had no sense of smell at all !!
but he had his own smell, wasn't ?
carmen, come work with me and use your powers to help me develop our garage store !!
what does mojo smell like ?
childhood memories are so strong.
and they made a decision on what smells you will like, no matter how disgusting theyy may be.
my summer camp, full of mosquitoes, made me love the marvelous, but universally accepted as horrible, scent of smoke mosquito repellent
