love

i was on the subway last night when i noticed a woman sit down across from me. she looked past me to the doorway beside/behind me to a man i could see in the reflection of the glass beside her. she mouthed, "i love you" and exchanged a couple of funny faces with the man (raised eyebrows and puckered lips) in the time it took for the subway doors to close.

once the train pulled away from the station and the man was out of sight from the woman, she was left with that look on her face - that sweet, idiotic, enamored look. it struck a chord.
